Nolvadex is a drug prescribed for breast cancer


Nolvadex is a drug prescribed for breast cancer. It is also prescribed for preventing cancer from spreading to other parts of the body.

The drug has to be swallowed in empty stomach or with food. Care should be taken that the medicine is not crushed, chewed or broken. Once Nolvadex is prescribed, do not deviate from the doctor’s direction. Never stop the drug in the middle as it can only increase the risk of side effects.

It is always better to infom the doctor if you have any of the following conditions:
blood clots, high calcium or cholesterol levels, weak immune system, low white blood cells, cataracts and vision problems. If you have any of these conditions, the doctor may go for a dosage adjustment or may even not prescribe Nolvadex.

It is not good to use Nolvadex during pregnancy, as the drug is known to cause harm to the foetus. Better do not feed while you are on Nolvadex medication as the drug is traced in breast milk and may case harm to the newborn.

Though Nolvadex is effective in preventing breast cancer, there is a possibility of developing endometrial cancer. Therefore, you should have to be under the constant watch of the doctor when you are taking Nolvadex.

Nolvadex should not be taken if you are using any blood thinning tablets. As some drugs are known to interact with Nolvadex, better tell your physician about all the medicines that you are using.

As like all medicines, Nolvadex also comes with many side effects.
